Tips for the Perfect Morning Routine

I don’t know about you, but I am not a morning person. Some people can spring out of bed at the crack of dawn. Unlike those people, I find myself dragging my feet getting up in the morning and hitting the snooze button for the eighth time just to get a few more minutes of sleep. That being said, there are some tried and true tips that can help you (and me) get a better start to the morning.

Do stretches in bed

Do you ever get up in the morning and feel tight? It happens to everyone. Starting your morning with a few stretches on your bed or on the floor can help wake your muscles and give you more energy.

Drink a glass of water

The water in your body is used to facilitate many of your body’s most basic functions. While you sleep, you aren’t taking in water and your body is using what it has stored. By drinking a glass of water in the morning, you provide your system with the means to to get moving.

Take some quiet time (meditate, journal, etc.)

I can already see you rolling your eyes. Ok, so meditating in the morning seems silly. “I’m already sleepy, so why would I meditate? I’ll just fall asleep!” I hear you. Nevertheless, incorporating some quiet time spent reading, meditating, or journaling can help focus your mind for the day ahead. It make take a few times to get into the habit, but it’s worth it.

Exercise

Exercise of any kind is a fantastic start to the day. Like stretching, exercising wakes your muscles and lowers your stress levels. I find personally that going to the gym in the morning not only gives me a feeling of accomplishment, but the energy I need to continue my day. Give it a try!

Eat breakfast

Seems self-explanatory, but eating breakfast in the morning can vastly improve your focus and mood. Similar to drinking water, food is your body’s fuel. Without refueling, your body become sluggish and your mind foggy. Even a small breakfast can make you feel immensely better.

Create a to-do list

Stress occurs in the morning due to the many tasks you must do circling through your mind and interrupting your thoughts. No wonder you want to go back to bed! Take some time in the morning to write out the things you have to do throughout the day. This will get the thoughts out of your head and down on paper.

Make Your Bed

Making your bed is by far the simplest trick to waking up. Once you pull your gorgeous Cosy House sheets and comforter up your mattress, it makes it much harder to fall back into bed. As amazing as our bamboo sheets are, it’s much harder to crawl back in if you can’t see them.
